Confession of Sins – A Trinitarian prayer

by Mike Cosper on January 28, 2009

Father, we’ve seen the good things in the world, in your law, and we’ve heard your invitation to live life as it was meant to be lived. We’re sorry for how often we’ve ignored you and ignored the good things you’d have us do. Instead, we’ve chased our own desires and satisfied our selfish appetites.
Father, we’ve sinned. We’re sorry. Please forgive us.

We see Jesus in his life, tirelessly loving others, pouring out himself for them, and ultimately giving up his life. We’ve been selfish with our time and energy, failing to love our friends and family because we’re too tired, too stressed, or too preoccupied.
Jesus, we’ve sinned. We’re sorry. Please forgive us.

You’ve given us your Spirit to comfort and guide us. He speaks to our hearts and leads us to truth. But we’ve looked for guidance everywhere else – from self-help gurus on TV, from politicians, from books, from friends and family, and ultimately we’ve just done what we wanted to do.
Spirit of God, we’ve sinned. We’re sorry. Please forgive us.

Please take a moment to silently confess your sins to God.
