Baptismal Prayer for Ash Wednesday

by Nathan Bierma on February 13, 2009

God, our caretaker,

Thank you for the enduring promise of the mark of baptism.

We thank you that the mark you make on us in baptism,
is deeper and clearer and stronger than the mark this ash makes on our heads.

May we remember that our baptism
unites with the death and resurrection of Christ,
tells us who we belong to forever,
and assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.
