Right now, all over the globe, people are looking to political leaders to save us from an economic crisis. Real suffering is spreading from Wall Street to Main Street, along with unemployment and rage over the irresponsibility that led us here. The scriptures call us to pray for those leaders – as we surely need to – but they also call us to remember the source of everything is God, our creator. Hear the word of the Lord:
As we worship together, let’s keep before us that God has gathered us together, “summoned us by name.” Whatever trials may surround us in the world, he has not forgotten us.
