Today we’ll be reflecting on the rhythms of life that God gave to Israel – rhythms of work and rest, fasts and feasts, celebrations and Sabbaths. He invites them to rest so that they can be refreshed. He also invites them to rest so that they can practice their trust in Him. On the day that they rest, he continues to care for their flocks and their crops, and they remember that he is good and faithful. Sabbath is one very concrete way we acknowledge that our God is sovereign, and we trust ourselves to his care. Let’s stand together and acknowledge that our God is sovereign –he’s caring for and guarding our lives.
Let’s worship God, our light and salvation.
The Lord is the stronghold of our lives.
We want to live in God’s presence
and seek Him in His holy temple.
We have come with shouts of joy,
to sing and to make music to the Lord.
Let’s worship God in spirit and in truth.
Teach us your ways and make straight paths for us,
in this hour of worship and always.
