Call to Worship for Easter: ‘We have run to the tomb’

by Nathan Bierma on March 28, 2009

We have run to the tomb.
We have squinted inside the darkness.
We have seen a pile of cloth where we expected a corpse.
We have been reprimanded by the angel,
‘Why do you look for the living among the dead?’

We have been astonished, confused, exhilarated.
We have dared to believe the unbelievable.
We have been stirred to echo the loud cry:
‘Death has been swallowed up in victory!’
