Having listened to your word and gathered at your table, we have come one step closer to Calvary.
(Here the liturgist extinguishes a Lent Candle. There are six candles, one for each Sunday of Lent. As the lighting of Advent candles anticipate Christ’s birth, the extinguishing of these candles anticipate his death.)
You, Lord God, have given yourself to us so may we give our whole lives to you. As pilgrims seeking your kingdom, keep our feet firmly in the way where Christ leads us; As vessels shaped by your hand, fill our lives with the joy that is Christ within us. Amen.
