Words of Commitment/Statement of Faith based on Heidelberg Catechism

by Mike Cosper on August 12, 2009

There can be a tremendous temptation to believe that we cant return to our God. That our sins are too great and stacked too high against us. In moments of such doubt, we need to preach the Gospel to ourselves. This historic confession is one way to do this:

I believe that God,
because of Christ’s atonement,
will never hold against me
any of my sins nor my sinful nature,
which I need to struggle against all my life.
Rather, in his grace
God grants me the righteousness of Christ
to free me forever from judgment.
